Somerville Auditorium
The outdoor Somerville Auditorium was the brainchild of W Somerville, who in 1927 conceived the idea of a venue defined by a cathedral of Norfolk pine trees. This magnificent venue is best known as the venue for the Perth International Arts Festival's Lotterywest Film Season from December through March. Accommodating 1,000 patrons on deckchair style seats which were newly replaced in November 2005, as well as 200 grass seats, there is no better venue to enjoy a film on a warm Perth evening. The Somerville is licensed and delicious meals are available on site as well as Connoisseur ice-creams and snacks. Picnicking has become a traditional part of the pre-film entertainment and is a great way to soak up the ambience. The venue is also popular for the "In the Pines" music festival organised by Radio RTR FM. For further information about the current season of Lotterywest Festival Films please click here. | | |
